RODNEY CO-OPERATIVE LIME

Rodney co-operative Lime Company has been operating for 60 years, one kilometre from Warkworth on a 18 hectare site situated on Sandspit Road.
We specialise in agriculture lime, lime rock for all farm roads, race rock and are a Ballance agent.

Recent changes in land use have seen agriculture give way to increased urbanisation around both coastal and town areas. With forestry on the out lying hills requiring metal for roading, the company produces a 50/50 blend of limestone and blue metal as a lower cost option for highly durable roading material.

We cater for clients from small farm lots to the largest of properties.

Rodney Lime is also a Ballance agri nutrients product store, mixing and despatching fertilizer both in bulk and bagged form.

Gone are the days of blasting the rock faces with explosives to break out the consolidated rock. Now a 35 tonne digger tears the rock from the quarry faces and feeds to a portable crusher to crush the rock to a usable state. Some of this rock is trucked to our crushing plant to make our agricultural lime. In the early days a 4 wheeler truck and a 3mtr load would of been the norm, today it is not unusual to have 6 and 8 wheeler trucks pulling 4 axel trailers requiring loads up to 18 cubic mtrs. Catering for this has required larger higher capacity loaders and diggers to get the job done.

The Company is a co-op and has some 350 shareholders. To become a shareholder requires the purchase of 200 $1 shares for which a shareholder is able to purchase product at a lesser price than a non shareholder.
